Jean Skirt … Jean Pants

Jacket: INC.  White top: JC Penny’s.  Necklace: 2nd hand / Snooty Fox.  Jean Skirt: Ann Taylor.  Tights: Kohl’s.  Boots: Guess.

There are a million ways to use the same foundation pieces but still switch up the look of an outfit.

Going for something more basic?  Stick with jeans and a classic white top with a fun blazer and chunky jewelry.

Looking for just a bit more funk?  Add color or textured tights and trendy boot.

Look @ me necklace

Top: Express. Necklace: Newport News.  Jeans: Ann Taylor.  Loafers: TJ Maxx.

Ah, for the love of comfort.  Stretch jeans, suede loafers, drapey sweater = casual love (today anyway).  This was definitely a day I needed some comfort, and my clothes provided it in abundance.  This necklace is also one of my favorites and the colors just have a way of making me smile.

Casual Chic

Jacket: The Limited.  Sweater: Express.  Jeans: Ann Taylor.  Shoes: Nine West.  Ring: Forever XXI.  Coat: Jessica Simpson.

Casual can be chic!  It may not be the most interesting outfit I’ve ever worn, but everything fit well and made me feel good, so that’s what truly mattered to me.  Particularly since this day was a seriously CRAZY hectic day – it was nice to be casual and not have to worry about any “fuss and fluff”   :)

Decorating myself in orange

DSCF5361

Nothing fancy today, but I did want to show off my colorful fall trench.  I don’t wear a lot of orange, but somehow this combination just seems to work.

Cardigan: Chadwicks.  Jeans: Banana Republic.  Boots: Aldo.  Gray Ruffle Tee: Express.

I’ve been quite busy lately with work (normal), golf (new & fun!), and (most recently) redecorating!  The change of seasons pushes me not only to update / clean out my wardrobe, but to update / clean out my interior space as well.

In the past, I’ve done a few posts on my closet, however – I’ve still received some requests to post on it again.  I have made just a few updates to my closet, but nothing major.  Do you want to see them? VOTE HERE!

A little cowgirl

Dress: BCBG.  Plaid Top: Guess.  Necklace: ??.  Boots: Gianni Bini.

Weekend eating & shopping w/ a fabulous girlfriend.  What could be better?!?  I’ll always be dedicated to my heels, but I do love the trend of the riding boot because they are so wonderfully comfortable and cute!

Fashionable Sportswear?

 DSCF5273 DSCF5278DSCF5274 DSCF5282 DSCF5276

After our horrendously embarrassing loss this weekend, it may not be the best time to represent the Cincinnati Reds, but… I did wear Reds gear to work on Friday, so I figured I might as well share it with you!

How to wear sports gear fashionably?  Wear it with something unexpected!  Fabulous pumps?  Fun skirt?  Jewelry and dark professional jeans?  Whatever makes you smile!

Back from Hilton Head

If you’ve noticed that my fashion posts for last week were scarce, it was because I was on vacation!  My mom and I took a trip to Hilton Head, SC.  It was so nice to relax, sit on the beach, and eat a ton of great food.  I’m sorry to say that I’m not ready to be back yet…!

Click Here to check out all the restaurants we tried and food we ate!

As for fashion in Hilton Head – it is SERIOUSLY laid back.  I brought quite a few little dresses, and tended to be the most dressed up everywhere I went…  There were times I joined in the local style of athletic clothing or swim suit cover-up for going out (I was on vacation after all!), but overall still dressed in my normal attire.

A little twisted

DSCF5077

Blue Knot Top: cable & gaunge.  Earring: Buckle.  Jeans: INC.

Just a basic casual day, but I do love the special little twisty knot this top has.  Similar to a belt, this knot detailing cinches and accentuates a waistline.

If you’re like me and you get irritated by a ton a jewelry pieces (sometimes they just get in the way!), I suggest finding clothing items with special detailing so that you still have a uniqueness to your look without having to add all the extras.

Goldilocks

Top: Michael Kors.  Shorts: Old Navy.  Bracelet: Forever XXI.  Ring: Charming Charlie.  Rosebud Wedges: Charming Charlie.

DSCF5017DSCF5019

This Labor Day weekend started out great as we had a work grill out on Friday and got to leave work early.  In honor of our grill out, we got to wear extra casual clothes.  To find something for the casual but still workplace appropriate look, I scoured my closet and decided on this flowy top and average length shorts.

I typically don’t like shorts because I can never find ones that are the right length.  I'm like Goldilocks when it comes to shorts!  They’re either up to my ass or down to my knee – seriously designers?!?  Anyway… last year I did find these Old Navy shorts and would have bought 1 in every color if they had more, but alas, navy was all they had, so here they are – my one average length pair of shorts!  I guess that’s why I often stick to skirts or dresses.

Charming

Ruffle Top: Chadwicks.  Skirt: Love Couture.  Shoes: Gianni Bini.

DSCF4983

No worries – this was definitely not a work ensemble!  I wore this outfit for afternoon weekend shopping with a friend.  We went to Charming CHARLIE and found tons of really cute affordable accessories.  I wouldn’t say this store is the place to go for long standing quality items, but it’s great for trendy items like belts, jewelry, etc… and even have fun clothing and shoes.

Summer Clearance

Tee: Limited.  Skirt: Ann Taylor Loft.  Shoes: DSW.

Casual weekend look – I adore this bright little skirt and found it for a great deal due to summer clearance prices (under $25!).  August / September time frame is the perfect time to stock up on summer dresses, tank tops, shorts, skirts, and sandals -- so if you’re in need of any of these wardrobe items, go out and get them now!

DSCF4956

In addition to the fun color, did I mention this skirt has pockets?!?  Love it.

DSCF4951

While yellow isn’t a great color on me, I find it’s a wonderful accent color and I tend to purchase items such as purses, jewelry, and shoes with this color.  It’s good to remember that no color is unworkable!

Weekend basics

DAY 1: Going on a weekend day trip to northern Ohio to visit some of my boyfriend’s family.  I knew I wanted to be comfortable for the car ride, so a basic cotton dress did the trick.  No stilettos or corset style belts today!  I played around with the accessories (feather earrings or Indian style necklace? / wedges or flats?), but essentially the look was the same.

DSCF4864 DSCF4866

DAY 2: My boyfriend and I are trying (key word) to golf.  We’re taking lessons next month, but in the meantime we did a little studying on it (thank you google!) and have been going to the driving range once a week.  Last week was our first week and it was HILARIOUS!  I was seriously on the ground laughing at one point.  This week we did much better and although we still had some crazy moments, we are slowly improving.

I totally felt like Sex & the City’s Charlotte with my pearl earrings, golf skirt and headband scarf!

Fancy or Classic?

Skirt: Paul Harris Denim.  White Cotton Top: INC.  Shoes: Gianni Bini.

The below look was my dressier mix for this skirt.  I think it worked for keeping the look professional, but still a little special and more interesting than just the plain tee.

DSCF4855 DSCF4857

If I wanted to go a bit more casual, all I had to do was take off the above top and add a basic jean jacket.  A jean jacket makes any look classic and pulled together.
