Summer Clearance

Tee: Limited.  Skirt: Ann Taylor Loft.  Shoes: DSW.

Casual weekend look – I adore this bright little skirt and found it for a great deal due to summer clearance prices (under $25!).  August / September time frame is the perfect time to stock up on summer dresses, tank tops, shorts, skirts, and sandals -- so if you’re in need of any of these wardrobe items, go out and get them now!

In addition to the fun color, did I mention this skirt has pockets?!?  Love it.

While yellow isn’t a great color on me, I find it’s a wonderful accent color and I tend to purchase items such as purses, jewelry, and shoes with this color.  It’s good to remember that no color is unworkable!

Studly Shoulders

Tee: The Limited.  Jeans: INC.  Shoes: Newport News.  Rings: Forever XXI.

Who says you can’t give a little pizzazz to a tee shirt and jeans day?  This was such an easy and comfortable outfit - with just a little bling to mix things up.

I recently made a stop at The Limited where they were having a phenomenal sale. I purchased my favorite skirt of the moment (I accidentally titled it from the Loft in my last post, but it really is from The Limited!) as well as this studded shoulder tee.  The skirt was $13 and this tee was $4.  SERIOUSLY?!?!  Yes.  Believe it.  The fabrics are so great and both items are machine washable.  I hadn’t been to The Limited in years, but I am now converted.

Wild Child

Pants: Younique.  Boyfriend Beater Tank: Target ??  Heech Wedges: Nine West.DSCF4544

Not the normal look for me, but it felt so fabulous!  This is more of what I wear around the house – tank tops and comfy pants or shorts (minus the heels…)

Nope, I did not do my hair – unless you call flipping my head upside down for 20 seconds with a blow-dryer hairstyling…  And nope, the make-up was hardly there either.

I was meeting a friend of mine for Sunday brunch and final-day-of-the-weekend sales shopping, and just went natural – with the addition of fabulous shoes of course.

What a difference shoes make!  Sometimes they’re all you need to pull an outfit together.

My latest casual Friday look.  I love light silky tops during the summer – they just feel so good and also look fresh and summer-y.  Add a cropped jacket for a little edge (and too keep me warm!) and I’m set for the day.

As training for the upcoming 5K, I’ve been running during my lunch hour and in the evenings.  This hour becomes a great escape from the daily routine and I’m actually enjoying it.  I have to remember to be careful with my heels though… these wedges actually hurt my right ankle, and I’ve had to walk really light on it these last few days.  Ah, the things we do for fashion.

How much is a pink Cadillac anyway?

37

Black lace top: Newport News.  Purple wrap: Express.  Jean skirt: INC.  Silver cuff: Forever XXI.  Wedges: Steve Madden.

With my sexy stacked wedge, I decided it was appropriate to cover up a bit more on top.  An easy way to add coverage to a low cut shirt is to add a sheer or lace undershirt.  Wa-la!  Transformation complete.

After work, a friend and I went to a Mary Kay party where we were forced (ok, not really…) to take off all our makeup (what was left of it after a long day at work…) and get all made up again using Mary Kay products.  Aside from the naked face in public thing, it was pretty fun and I purchased a few products that I hope will last me a while.  Has anyone ever noticed that “maintaining” yourself is quite expensive?!?

Well – enough ramblings for the night.  Until tomorrow~  L

Enjoying the Weekend

DSCF4351

Print Tank: Deb. Skirt: GoJane.  Shoes: Steve Madden.

In the last few years, I’ve started to invest a bit more in higher quality wardrobe items, but I still go for the affordable when purchasing trendy items such as this cotton blue leopard print top.  I got it for only $15 at Deb!

The green skirt was also a steal-of-a-deal purchase for less than $20!

In my last post, I said I felt like escaping, and even though I didn’t technically get away, I was able to embrace my long weekend and make it feel a bit like a vacation.

I spent a lot of time outside, went biking at the Loveland bike trail, started reading a new book, slept in, cooked a ton and ate a lot, visited with family, had a girls’ night, and went to Taste of Cincinnati.

Now, if only every weekend was a 3 day weekend, then I’d really be spoiled!  Either way, I’m enjoying what I get – and I hope you are too.  Happy weekend!

Call of the Sea

DSCF4336

Silk Top & Cardigan: Chadwicks. Capris: NY & Co.  Sandals: 9 west

I love this blue / green color because it reminds me of the sea, being on vacation, and walking with my feet in the sand.  Unfortunately, I’m really at work – but at least I can drift to other places in my mind!

Dreaming of Paris

DSCF4206DSCF4208

Dress: Bisou Bisou.  T-strap sandals and Purse: Nine West.  Watch: Guess.

DSCF4211

Another bright patterned dress today!  Maybe I’m doing a semi-repeat of yesterday because I’m hoping my improved days will last  :)

Speaking of improved days - I’m reading “Lunch in Paris” and am becoming thoroughly inspired to travel abroad, savor luxurious exotic foods, and do essentially whatever makes me happy.  I love a good book, so this is definitely on my favorite things list.  However, it is becoming somewhat difficult to get out of bed and go to work every day while I am fantasizing about disappearing to the streets of Paris…!
