Wardrobe Weekend

Dress: Susana Moraco.  Necklace: Ann Taylor Loft.  Shoes: BCBG.

After much drama of shoe matching and dress fitting / not fitting (I had to lay off the pastries for a week!), I finally got to wear my weekend-wedding dress.  The wedding venue was lovely, the bride gorgeous, the company fabulous, and the man dashing.  What more could a girl ask for?

The rest of my weekend was spent shopping with my mom, organizing my closet (fall cleaning!), and cooking.  Seriously, I’ve often thought my calling is to be a personal shopper.  If my man turns into a sugar daddy some day and I no longer have to work – then I’ll definitely have to make it happen  :)  either that or I would just stay home, cook and eat all day long watching Frasier, Grey’s Anatomy, and FoodNetwork…

Anywhoo… my mom is a great candidate for trying out my personal shopping skills because I know what her style and lifestyle is, and she trusts me enough to try on everything I pick for her.  Overall – we made out like bandits!  Tons of great sales were going on and it was definitely wardrobe makeover time.

Although the majority of shopping was for my mom, I did find a few items myself including these fabulous Guess heels.  Aren’t they gorgeous?!  I’m in love.

The shopping time inspired me to do some fall cleaning of my closet, so I did my normal semi-annual clean out and ended up with several piles – one clothing pile to give to friends, one for goodwill, one for plato’s closet consignment, and one for alterations.  In addition, I labeled all my shoe boxes with shoe pics so it’s super easy to find what I’m looking for at any time.  How scary is it that I find this activity so much fun?!?

Charming

Ruffle Top: Chadwicks.  Skirt: Love Couture.  Shoes: Gianni Bini.

No worries – this was definitely not a work ensemble!  I wore this outfit for afternoon weekend shopping with a friend.  We went to Charming CHARLIE and found tons of really cute affordable accessories.  I wouldn’t say this store is the place to go for long standing quality items, but it’s great for trendy items like belts, jewelry, etc… and even have fun clothing and shoes.

Update

F0909131_NBK09_001

While viewing votes and comments from my shoe dilemma post, I remembered these amazing shoes from Newport News!  They remind me of Paris Hilton Spelled Evening pumps, and I think they could potentially be perfect with my dress -- and wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg (less than $50!!).

I’m going for it.  Wish me luck – pictures coming weekend of Sept 4th.

If they don’t work out, I’ll probably go with the black and hope the crystals cut some of the otherwise heaviness that the black would carry.

Shoe Dilemma

2010-06-06%2011.44.19_Cincinnati_Ohio_US[1]I’ve decided to wear this dress to an upcoming wedding.  It will be my first time wearing it and I am having a little difficulty determining what shoes I want to wear with it.  Do I try to match the blue or purple?  Do I accent the black?

I’ve dug through my closet and through all my favorite shoe sites, and below are my top picks.  The Badgley Mischka shoes are my ultimate favorite, but I’m not sure I’m willing to pay the price since they would only be a special occasion shoe… Maybe just stick with the shoes I already have… See my dilemma!

What would you choose?  VOTE HERE!

  1. Badgely Mischka $200
  2. Nina $70
  3. rsvp $70
  4. rsvp $90
  5. Steven by Steve Madden (free! already in my closet)

Inside my dressing room

I have some events coming up this summer and I’ve been sniffing around for some new dresses for the occasions.

I’ve also been considering rent the runway and found a FABULOUS dress on their site, but then I figure – what if it doesn’t fit?  what if it just doesn’t look as good as I thought it would?  and of course 1 big consideration – at the end of the day I’d be paying my hard earned $$ to wear a dress 1 time and send it right back…

So – while I’m considering RTR, I’m also browsing dress sales.  The 3 below are ones I tried at TJ Maxx, and I am letting you in the dressing room with me to see how it went!

2010-06-06%2011.37.23_Cincinnati_Ohio_US[1]2010-06-06%2011.44.19_Cincinnati_Ohio_US[1]2010-06-06%2011.40.35_Cincinnati_Ohio_US[1]2010-06-06%2011.40.48_Cincinnati_Ohio_US[1]

I love the unique sexiness of the black cutout dress and could wear it for fancy girls nights out and my boyfriend’s upcoming 30th birthday (don’t tell him I told you… hope he doesn’t read this!).

The second pic of the blue dress didn’t really do the outfit justice.  The silhouette of the dress is beautiful and the color is eye-catching.  This one I’m considering wearing to a wedding.

The final grey dress was a no for me simply because it just didn’t fit.  It was much too big and there were no other sizes available, so I had to say farewell to it.  I did really love the sparkle trim and the “come hither” back though.

Do you have a favorite?  Do you agree with the choice of dress for the different events?  If anyone has used rent the runway before, I’d be interested to hear how that went as well.
